Frequently Asked Questions

1. Will chicory syrup really replace sugar?

Definitely. Chicory syrup has the same sweetness as regular sugar or honey. It can be used not only for classic sweetening, but also for baking. In addition, the special structure of chicory extract can also partially replace fat during baking.

2. Is it really a healthy product?

Chicory syrups contain only 5% sugar and are therefore suitable for customers who need to watch their intake of simple sugars. In addition, they have a high amount of fiber, which substantially helps the digestive tract, the immune system, the fight against being overweight and high blood sugar.

3. Does it sweeten as much as sugar or honey?

The sweetness of the syrup is the same as that of honey. The dosage is therefore the same as when sweetening with sugar or honey, i.e. 1 tablespoon of syrup is equivalent to 1 tablespoon of honey (sugar).

4. How does it differ from maple, agave and other syrups?

Our chicory sweeteners have up to 45% fewer calories compared to other natural sweeteners. Original chicory syrup contains only 5% sugars, which is 10-15 times less than honey, agave syrup, maple syrup..

In addition, no other sweetener can boast a 71% soluble fiber content, which is very healthy for the body. And there is one more unique feature - the syrup is able to partially replace cooking fat! The dosage for sweetening is the same as for honey; when replacing fat in food, 1g of syrup replaces about 4g of fat.

5. What is its shelf life?

The shelf life of chicory syrups depends on the type of product. For example, Original Chicory Syrup has a shelf life of 12 months.

6. What is the proportion of chicory in one bottle?

Our chicory syrups and sweeteners contain an extremely high proportion of natural chicory. Values range from 91% to 99.95% depending on the product type.

7. How is the chicory root from which the syrup is made processed?

The chicory root is processed by a very demanding process, which is protected by a patent.

8. Why do you add sucralose to the syrup?

Since chicory extract itself has a sweetness slightly lower than sugar , sucralose is added to achieve the same sweetness, but it is only 0.01%, which is a trace amount. Sucralose is present in selected chicory syrups in such small amounts that it is far below the recommended daily allowance. However, for those who want to avoid it for whatever reason, we also have alternatives to syrups without sucralose.

9. How does consuming Chicory Syrup contribute to calcium absorption?

Only about 30 percent of the calcium we ingest in our diet is usually completely absorbed by the body. The rest is eliminated from the body.

The soluble fiber contained in 71% of chicory extract reaches the large intestine undigested, where it is partially or completely fermented by intestinal bacteria. During fermentation, various products, short-chain fatty acids and gases are produced. It’s the combination of the effects of the fermentation process and the by-products formed that increases the colonic absorption function for calcium.

10. Is Chicory Syrup suitable for children?

Chicory syrup is also suitable for children. In addition, we offer "chicory sweetening for children", which has the same benefits as the original and the sweetness is lower compared to sugar or honey so that the child does not develop an unnecessary dependence on too-sweet food. It is also sucralose-free.
